<Guest2> No I'm okey that way
<SpringOP> yes, butnow I take medicine for that, have for a couple years. When I forget to use it
<CareOP> I'm not talking pee nor constipation but spasms
<SpringOP> it is not long before I am there, running to bathroom
<CareOP> pee?
<CareOP> this is the other

<CareOP> Guest5! Hi!
<Guest3> right now its only about the mid 50's
<CareOP> I could live with that Guest3! lol!
<SpringOP> evening Guest5! Welcome to Sjogren's World
<CareOP> really!
<CareOP> do you have Sjogren's Guest5?
<Guest5> It's in the middle of the night for me
<CareOP> glad you came Guest5!
<Guest5> Yes, prim. sjpgrens
<CareOP> wow!
<CareOP> Sjogren;'s was first found in Sweeden!
<CareOP> any good treatment there Guest5?
<SpringOP> so glad to have you all with us tonoght
<CareOP> me too!
<CareOP> Guest5 taking any drugs for your Sjogren's?
<Guest5> Yes, anti-inflammatoris
<Guest3> what is sjogren's?
<CareOP> any prednisone for anyone here?
<Guest2> Do you have central nervous system involvement, Guest5
<SpringOP> Sjogrens is an autoimmune illness similar to Lupus. When it affects the central nervous system, it can cause Multiple Sclerosis type symptoms. Sjogrens can cause lesions in the brain and spinal cord that look like MS lesions on MRI.
<CareOP> go girl! Spring! :o]
<Guest5> I think so
<Guest2> :o)
<SpringOP> Guest5, what anit-inflammatories are you taking?
<CareOP> what are your symptoms Guest5?
<Guest5> I have been to a neurologist
<CareOP> poor Guest5 so many ??? :o]
<CareOP> what did he say?
<Guest5> awful headaches, and burning feet
<CareOP> Spring has terrible headaches
<SpringOP> those are my main symptoms too Guest5!
<CareOP> :o]
<Guest2> Describe your headaches
<SpringOP> and the burning feet
<CareOP> I have them occasionally two of my kids have migraines
<SpringOP> what did the neuro tell you Guest5?
<Guest5> migrain headaches
<SpringOP> that is manin other than fatigue
<CareOP> for me pain
<SpringOP> so the neuro said they are migraines. that is what I am told
<CareOP> how about you Guest3?
<Guest3> do yourfeet hurt when you get up in the morning and then it goes away after you get to moving around?
<Guest2> yes
<CareOP> anyone vision problems?
<CareOP> my pain gets worse as the pay goes on
<Guest2> the normal blurring and burning and dryness
<CareOP> day
<SpringOP> my feet hurt in the morning, but the burning is on the bottoms of the feet, like in the skin, and is nearly constant, but worse if I use my feet allot
<CareOP> yep me too
<Guest3> my eyes get double vision at times but it doesn't last long
<CareOP> is the blurring like multiple "spots" in your eyes?
<Guest5> I've done an emg, ncv, but it didn't show anything, I have done a neuropsych.eval. too, which did show concentration problems
<SpringOP> i do not see spots Care, just blurs, canot focus
<CareOP> Guest3 you have Sjogren's? or MS? or both?
<Guest5> The neuro put me up for mri
<CareOP> hummm mine blurrs but in multiple spots briefly
<SpringOP> same here Guest5. Did they tell you definite Sjogrens?
<Guest3> i have been dx wth ms
<Guest5> no
<CareOP> yes Guest5 the concentration problems are common in SjS
<SpringOP> you mean you have blurring in different small areas?
<CareOP> really Guest3? did they mention a possiblity of Sjogrens or Lupus also?
<CareOP> yes
<Guest3> does anybody have speech problems like stuttering sometimes?
<CareOP> I have had optic neuritis
<SpringOP> I was just diagnosed with Sjögren's Syndrome with demylenating disease in Oct. (probable MS since 94)
<CareOP> me SjS and possible MS in 98
<CareOP> yes I do Guest3
<Guest3> they tested me for lupus and it came back neg
<SpringOP> Guest3, I have had that at times, but not all the time. Mostly when hot and tired.
<Guest2> me sjs and RA now CNS involvement
<Guest5> it seems to me that the doctors are further on with cns-sjogrens in USA
<CareOP> ANA Guest3?
<CareOP> well only at the large hospitals Guest5
<Guest3> ?
<SpringOP> antinuclear antibodies = ANA right?
<CareOP> the blood test Guest3 for ANA?
<Guest5> I have problems with speech sometimes, stuttering, finding words
<Guest2> I lose words alot
<CareOP> antinecular antibodies?
<Guest3> i had an mri that showed legions on the brain and a spinal tap that came back neg
<CareOP> me too Guest5
<Guest2> common words
<CareOP> I feel like an idiot at thos times!
<Guest2> me too
<CareOP> yes me too Guest2
<Guest2> it is embarrasing
<CareOP> I forget common words too!
<CareOP> :o[
<SpringOP> do you have lots of lesions Guest3? I have few to none.
<CareOP> do you get those "looks"?
<Guest5> Do you feel depressed during flares ?
<Guest2> I had a normal mri -- eeg abnormal
<SpringOP> makes one not want to talk
<CareOP> I have the speech problems Guest5 also
<Guest3> it is especially frustrating when you loose a word or stutter when your trying to talk to your customers
<CareOP> yes I do Guest5 and scared too!
<Guest2> yes I find myself holding back
<SpringOP> that would be Guest3, what is your job?
<Guest2> Guest3 :o(
* SpringOP knows what you meand Guest2
<Guest3> they said i had about half dozen or so legions
<CareOP> yes Guest3 - sometimes I just don't talk at dinner - I also bite my tongue a lot!
<Guest5> do you feel that the depression is due to sjogrens
<Guest2> me too or choke
<Guest2> yes
<CareOP> me too Guest3
<SpringOP> I talk at dinner and husband and son now know how to translate it, most of the time! they just grin
<CareOP> yes Guest5 it is!
<Guest2> mine too
* CareOP is Spring's twin!
<Guest2> and you look so good
<CareOP> gee we do have the same problems and symptoms!!!
<CareOP> yes except I am so thin!!!
<SpringOP> yeah, you look so good, but something is just not right...when the mouth opens, hahaha
<CareOP> look good but very skinny!
<Guest2> I wish there were hospitals that specialize in these autoimmune diseases
<CareOP> right Spring!
<SpringOP> care, they are probably envious of your thinness
<SpringOP> me too Guest2
<Guest3> i wish i could say that careop
<CareOP> no - I am "gaunt"! not a pretty thin! :o[
<CareOP> send me some pounds someone!!!!! :o]
<Guest2> I like my neuro but I'll bet I am the only sjs patient he has had
* SpringOP is getting bigger by the month, and we are not talking pregnant here!
<CareOP> I'll take 5!
<CareOP> oopsie what are you doing Sprong???
<SpringOP> I have not been back to my neuro since the rheumatologist diagnosed Sjogren's in Oct. I see neuro in March. It should be interesting
<CareOP> Guest5 - very depressed??
<CareOP> should be Spring!
<CareOP> Guest3 how long have you been ill?
<SpringOP> Guest5, last week I got really depressed, but had been having some bad days. I think when your symptoms are flaring, it is too much for the system to handle everything...and other things, like depression occur.
<Guest5> just now, I'm in flare, and the depressed mood "jumped on me", I don't see a cause
<Guest3> i got the pos dx in nov. of 98
<Guest2> In hindsight I've had a low level depression for years -- I think it is the sjs not just accepting the chronic illness stuff
<CareOP> yes Guest5 - I have those too - sometimes depression is my first symptom of a flare - or headaches
<CareOP> me too Guest2!
<Guest2> Lately I think I've cried a little each day
<CareOP> there is a very good article in this month's Discover Magazine about migraine headaches -treatment and causes
* SpringOP agrees with Guest2. I have been on paxil for 6 years. on bad days I double the dose (doc said to)
<Guest5> It is conforting that others have this symptoms too, sometimes I think I'm crazy
<Guest2> thanks
<CareOP> me too Guest5 - you are NOT crazy! :o]
<CareOP> welcome...
<SpringOP> Guest5, you are NOT crazy, your immune system is!
<CareOP> hugs are important! :o]
<Guest2> No this is when we have to try and be a best friend to ourselves. I sort of say well Iam just showering my soul again
<SpringOP> anyone else on anti-depressants?
<Guest2> yes
<CareOP> the immune system is governed by the brain - interesting isn't it???
<SpringOP> what do you take?
<Guest3> i was but not anymore
<CareOP> I take them for pain Spring
<Guest2> xanax
<SpringOP> I heard that paxil is drying, and that is the last thing I need now
<CareOP> they all are Spring
<SpringOP> this other doc gives her MS patients Effexor
<CareOP> mine too
<CareOP> does it dry Spring?
<Guest5> I don't think that the doctors are aware of this, they think the depression is due to the fact that one has got a disease, I think not
<SpringOP> the effexor? she told me it would be better than paxil when it comes to dryness. I am going to ask my doc about it
<CareOP> you are correct Guest5!
<Guest2> Care tell Guest5 about the great articles this site has
<CareOP> Guest5 have you seen the articles posted at Sjogren's World about Sjogren's?
<CareOP> ha!
<CareOP> Guest2!
<SpringOP> the docs over here seem to think that the depression CAN BE due to the disease process. or related to it anyway
<Guest2> yes they are great
<SpringOP> oh oh double vision!
<Guest5> yes I have, they are very informative, the best I've read
<CareOP> we are all clones!
<CareOP> print them and take to your doctors Guest5
<Guest2> I am taking them to both of my doctors
<CareOP> good girl!
<Guest2> So did I
<CareOP> my eyes are blurring right now!
<SpringOP> have it printed out and eready here too!
<CareOP> worse at night
<Guest5> No, I think not, they think that this is a mild disease
<SpringOP> blink more often, haha.
<CareOP> do any of you have the parotid gland swell?
<Guest5> no
<CareOP> it does help Spring!
<Guest2> no
<CareOP> me either - but they sometimes hurt
<Guest2> I have one gland that is a little enlarged
<CareOP> I don't think the swelling happens with CNS-SS
<SpringOP> no, but my right ankel and leg swell up often
<Guest2> Right now it is smaller than ever
<Guest5> but my lymphnodes hurts
<CareOP> I have glands in my neck that are enlarged - dentist found the,
<CareOP> where Guest5?
<Guest5> in the throat and armpits
<CareOP> where in the throat does it hurt?
<CareOP> Hi guest!
<Guest5> the lymphnodes,
<CareOP> but exactly the location Guest5? I'm not sure where you are feeling them?
<CareOP> when you swallow?
<CareOP> Guest3 - where did they find the lesions on your MRI?
<Guest5> I've done a tonsillectomi 1980, but the lympnodes under where the tonsils should be are enlarged and hurts now and then
<Guest3> does anybody choke when eating or drinking like something went down the wrong tube?
<CareOP> yep! I do!
<Guest2> all the time
<Guest5> yes
<CareOP> anyone bite their tongues while eating or talking?
<Guest5> no
<Guest2> no
<Guest2> my cheek
<Guest3> i'm really not sure it seems to me something about the frontal lobe does that make since?
<SpringOP> it happens with me sometimes Guest3, but then I take more time and swallow food with mild or water.
<CareOP> my tongue is scarred from repetted bites
<Guest1> just visiting again
<CareOP> we have some terrific people here tonight!
<Guest1> hello everyone!
<CareOP> :o]
<SpringOP> CareOP, sounds like you are talking with your mouth full, didn't your mother teach you not to do that? hehehahaha
<Guest5> do the most of you still work ?, I don't
<CareOP> frontal lobes Guest3?
<CareOP> me too - also parietal
<Guest2> I don't
<Guest3> yes frontal lobes does that sound right to you
<CareOP> yes it does Guest3 - me too
<CareOP> cerebral lesions
<CareOP> I guess I have lots of little ones and a couple bigger lesions
<CareOP> anyone take predisone all the time?
<SpringOP> sounds liek the big ones are making babies
<Guest2> no
<Guest3> other than my sympyoms the only test that came out with anything was the mri
<Guest1> I've taken once
<SpringOP> I have glaucoma and very early cataracts, so daily steroid will be out of the question fo rme
<CareOP> did it help Guest1?
<CareOP> yep Spring sure would be
<SpringOP> that is just like me Guest3!
<SpringOP> been probable MS since 94
<CareOP> sometimes that is all there is Guest3
<Guest2> What do you take then Spring
<CareOP> with MS or Sjogrens
<Guest1> yes it did frist time in 2yrs my tail bone didn't feel like it wanted to explode
<CareOP> gee Guest1 I have that also!
<CareOP> hurts to sit!
<SpringOP> I am mild case of whatever you want to call it, is not bad most days. so right now I can put upwith it. but I have slowed way down to avoid bad flares.
<Guest3> well that neuro gave me the pos in nov. of 98 but i thought maybe i would go see another neuro for another opinion
<CareOP> and the prednisone helps that!
<Guest1> nero said it would take swelling down
<CareOP> good idea Guest3
<CareOP> it does Guest1 and helps the pain go away!
<SpringOP> you could try that Guest3, you might also want to visit a rheumatologist.
<Guest2> Do you have dry eyes and mouth Guest3
<Guest1> nasty stuff it is
<SpringOP> there are so many rheumatic diseases that have similar symptoms.
<CareOP> problems can also arise from seeing too many doctors - but a second opinion is always good
<CareOP> I had one doctor who wanted to remove my tailbone
<CareOP> eeks!
<Guest3> i don't think my eyes are dry but mouth is always dry
<Guest2> eeks
* SpringOP even went to MAYO 2 weeks ago for an opionion, got the same opinion. now I do not care, just so they give me stuff to take care of the symptoms
<CareOP> right Spring!
<Guest2> Do you watch your saturated fat intake?
<CareOP> my eyes are much worse Guest3 and nose is like the Sahara!
<CareOP> no but I should!
<Guest3> well this new neuro thinks i'm just depressed and thats whewre all my symptoms are from
* SpringOP takes paxil (very low dose for depression) and oxybytynin (for the bladder) and betoptic for Glaucoma. Salagen pills 3 x day for dryness, they really help!
<CareOP> I did and lost weight - doc said forget the diet!]
<Guest2> huggs Guest3
<Guest5> I would like to ask you, how many hours a day do you sleep or rest, for me it's very often 16-17 hours
<CareOP> don't believe that Guest3 - they say that when they cannot diagnose you!
<SpringOP> Guest3, if you and yourneuro do not get along, may be time for a new one, if this one gave dx, then maybe a new one would take the dx away, that is what happened to me
<CareOP> I need to rest often Guest5
<Guest2> me too Guest5
<CareOP> sit then up then sit again - on a heating pad
<SpringOP> 8-10 hours a day for me, I just find stuff to do. keep myself busy
<CareOP> fatigue a problem for everyone?
<Guest3> i'm wondering if it was worth going to see another neuo its more confusing now than it ever was before
<Guest2> oh yes
<CareOP> well Guest3 - how many have you seen?
<SpringOP> but I do go rest my legs up in the recliner or bed several times a day without a true nap
<CareOP> yep spunds like me spring
<Guest2> me too
<CareOP> Guest3 don't give up - I went through that too
<Guest2> Guest3 how is your diet
<Guest3> this is only my second one
<CareOP> any large hospt you could go to Guest3?
<CareOP> most neuros can't diagnose CNS_SS
<Guest3> my regular drand the first neuro dx ms
<Guest5> It is hard when you are too tired to do things, except reading or sitting in front of the computer
<CareOP> large well know hospitals have the best neurologists - generally speaking
<Guest2> Care coes the Clinic inlude sjs patients in the ms clinic
<CareOP> Guest5 - there are drugs to help with fatigue
<Guest3> what is CNS-SS
<CareOP> yes I go to the MS facility there
<CareOP> the Rheumatologist there thought I had MS
<Guest2> and you do not have MS right?
<Guest5> which drugs?
<CareOP> well - he said there "might be an overlap with MS" his exact words!
<Guest3> sorry but this is still pretty new to me and i don't understand alot of the terms
<CareOP> cylert and provigil Guest5
<CareOP> that's ok Guest3 - have any questions Guest3?
<Guest2> SS with CNS is Sjogren's with central nervous system involvement, Guest3
<SpringOP> also, amantadine (symmetrel) for fatigue
<CareOP> right spring
<CareOP> do you have any questions Guest3?
<CareOP> aks away!
<CareOP> ask
<Guest1> Guest3 harmony Op would like to talk to u at msworld
<CareOP> my fingers and brain are NOT co-ordinated!
<Guest3> oh i will you people have already answered a few of them
<CareOP> Guest3 - any chance you could see a neuro at UCLA in california?
<Guest3> who is harmonmy op
<CareOP> I think there is a good MS facility there
<Guest3> i dont think so my health insurance wont cover it
<CareOP> :o[
<Guest1> don't know but I just talked to HarmonyOp at MSWorld
<CareOP> I understand
<CareOP> Guest3 - hang in there I do understand how you feel! A diagnosis helps so much!
<CareOP> my family (hubby and in-laws) don't understand, even with a daignosis.
<Guest3> so if the new neuro says he isn't pos. that i have ms and the other neuro and my dr say i do then who do you listen to
<CareOP> but it made me feel better having one
<CareOP> the one you trust Guest3
<CareOP> Hi Guest4!!
<SpringOP> harmonyOP and YVonOP are the hosts at the #MSWorld room, where they are talking about MS
<Guest2> Guest5 -- Eating lots of salmon helps to reduce inflammation in the body which might help the brain fog and depression too.
<Guest4> HEY, WHAT'S UP ?
<CareOP> how you doing Guest4?
<Guest5> thanks Guest2
<SpringOP> that is very hard Guest3. read and learn and decide who is going to help you best, that is what I do
<CareOP> where you from Guest4?
